3 weeks ago today, the most amazing young man I have ever met,
my best friend in the whole world,
got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!!!!!! :)
I have been dying to post the story but have resisted
until we told everyone in person that we possibly could.
it has been so worth it!
I love seeing peoples faces light up in surprise and excitement
and tell us how perfect we are together ;) haha.
I avoid making things about me, but this is one time,
when I simply want everyone in the world to know how happy I am! how happy WE are!! :)
OK, here it is :)
step 1: Sunday Daniel told me that his family wanted me to come over for Family Home Evening
and to dress up nice because we were going somewhere that was a surprise.
so he picks me up at 5:30
and in the car waiting on the dash is a container with my name on it!
inside is a necklace with a pendant in the shape of a penguin
(yes the penguin is significant) :)
and under the pretense that we are
"killing time" until we can "meet up with everyone else"
he takes me to this old car lot
(we are both slightly obsessed with old cars, for him its the mustangs and stingrays
while for me its the beautiful beautiful Ford trucks)
and unbeknown to me
he had previously worked out a deal with the manager and
while we were walking around he somehow slipped a box to the guy
and i MISSED IT!!
so he casually asks the guy (who is trailing us slyly so i don't notice)
if we can see that old green ford truck up in the front.
So he unlocks it, lets us get in, shuts the doors, and LEAVES!
he just left us in a 30,000$ car... NBD.
so we are geeking out and opening everything and examining everything
and he pops open the glove box
and there is a box in it with my name on it!
in the box were two necklaces and matching earrings,
he has amazing taste and knows exactly what I like!
so we took tons of pictures there and got back on our way.
he took me to a place where you drive up the hill and it overlooks
all of Scottsdale as the sun is setting.
but of course being the rebellious adventurers that we are,
in our dressy clothes, we decided to hike up into the sadle of the hill
we were next to so we could see the city even better.
picture me in heels and a skirt climbing a mountain... twas a sight to be seen!!
anywho, the city was on fire and beautiful and he turns to me suddenly and says:
uh oh, WE'RE LATE! uh babe, late for what? WE'RE JUST LATE, LET'S GO!
anxious? ;) haha.
so he took me to a tiny Italian restaurant
tucked away in a corner
called Avanti's.. sounds romantic already, huh?!
inside it is a small box, and the walls are mostly covered in mirrors.
each table has a single rose on it,
however as the waiter (the manager in disguise)
brought us closer to our table, I noticed that it was the only table
with 2 dozen roses on it :)
and it was in its own cut out at the back of the place. it was perfect :)
it was all fancy and they even put my napkin on my lap for me!
and even though the waiter was completely Mexican, he pulled off one mean Italian waiter!! :)
anywho, we ate dinner
and then out comes dessert
under the plate was a box, and then a facy Dollie, and then a silver platter.
when we finished the dessert
Daniel move the plate, and the box, of course, had my name on it :)
he came and stood next to me,
and inside was a beautiful watch, necklace and earrings
(which he picked out to match the ring, which I didn't catch onto)
and he kept urging me to take everything out,
so I did,
and underneath the insert was a card that said
"to my lovely Maelani Lehua... Parker?"
an he removed the card, revealing the ring box,
took it out
got down on one knee
everything hits me like a ton of bricks and i start crying
he opens the ring box
the ring takes my breath away
and he says:
"will you make me the happiest man in the world, and be my wife?"
and more tears ;)
and in the mirrors behind Daniel i can see all the waiters watching
and peeking behind the wall to see if he had done it yet :) haha
I was blown away.
he said he wanted to give me the proposal I had always dreamed about :)
anywho, after that we went from house to house telling all of our family
because we were so ECSTATIC!!!!!
anyways, that was soooo long, but this is kinda doubling as my journal since I have
no time anymore
